The official Japanese website for Attack on Titan, Shingeki.com, has now shared the TV caption for season 4 part 2 episode 10, titled “Traitor”.
“Stop Eren to save the world. Former companions stand in front of those who decide so. They fight with the feeling that no one wants to die.” – Story 85, Shingeki.tv.
The preview trailer for episode 85 has also been shared by fans on social media, which shows the newly-minted ‘Anime-avengers’ trying to take the Paradis Island port where Floch is keeping lady Azumabito hostage.
How many episodes are left in Attack on Titan season 4?
Unfortunately, Attack on Titan is very quickly moving towards its season 4 finale and to the eventual conclusion of the fantastic anime series.
Including season 4 part 2 episode 10 “Traitor”, there are only three episodes left to be broadcast in Japan and streamed internationally!
The good news is that there is actually an extra week of Attack on Titan with the season 4 finale, episode 87, being delayed.
The finale is only delayed by one week, but fans are already theorising that this is to do with the popular opinion that one final theatrical movie could be on the way – find a more detailed breakdown here.
A quick recap of episode 84, “Night of the End”
Episode 84 of Attack on Titan was titled “Night of the End” and opened with a focus on Jean, who is struggling to come to terms with the events of the past few weeks.
However, in a defining moment for the OG Scout, Jean remembers Marco as well as the countless other friends he has lost over the past four seasons… “Hange, I’m forever a Scout.”
Cut back to the campfire in the woods where Hange is preparing a stew for the new group, who now consist of Mikasa, Armin, Jean, Conny, Levi, Reiner, Annie, Gabi, Falco, Pieck, Magath, Yelena and Onyakapon.
It only takes a matter of moments for the group to be at each other’s throats; with Jean and Commander Magath berating each other for their role in the war between Marley and Paradis Island. Hange is able to temporarily settle their argument, but tensions between the group start to rise once again.
Annie then steps into the conversation, asking whether any of them can actually kill Eren, if the opportunity for negotiating a peaceful end to the conflict passes by. Annie thinks that Mikasa will eventually fight to protect Eren if the group has to kill him, which Mikasa takes as a threat.
It is then revealed that Yelena is actually not from a distant country, but is really a Marleyan herself who tricked her way into Zeke’s plans.
“Save the world. Are there any words more sweet and enticing? The noble deed of saving millions whispers to your heart. You gobble it up as if to wash down the taste of hate. That’s what I see looking at all of you.” – Yelena, Attack on Titan ep 84.
Yelena then proceeds to give the group a disturbing history lesson, reminding them of all the horrific actions they have each taken, with almost all members of the group had killed innocent civilians at some point.
Reiner then reveals how he, Annie and Bertholdt had to feed Marco to a titan after he overhead their plans. Jean is so enraged at the three of them sacrificing Marco in such a horrible way that he runs across the fire and punches Reiner, beating him into a bloody pulp before Gabi throws herself in the way.
Jean accidentally kicks Gabi, who then cries that they were just doing what they thought was right, but now they need their help to save humanity outside of Paradis Island.
In the morning, Jean apologises to Gabi but doesn’t go as far as to say sorry to Reiner. The group starts to move towards the Paradis Island port, but find out that the Jaegerists are already there.
The episode ends with Pieck saying that they have anti-Titan weaponry on hand, with Floch holding Lady Azumabito hostage.
Castlevania director distances himself from trolls
Ask any Attack on Titan what they think of the fourth television season and the vast majority of us would be able to talk for hours about the characters, cinematography and storytelling.
However, not everyone wants to share their opinions, especially on social media for fear of causing a civil war on Twitter.
This week, the creator of Netflix’s fantastic Castlevania series Adi Shankar spoke to Comic Book about his opinions regarding Eren’s development in season 4… he wasn’t having any of it.
“No comment, I don’t want to get trolled. I am enjoying the final season though, I just enjoy stuff. I now have the ability to turn off the critical eye, the critical eye is just my own biases so I’m able to enjoy and appreciate what they’re doing.” – Adi Shankar, via Comic Book.
An unusual rumour about an Attack on Titan exam
This week, it was reported on social media that an Indian school featured an Attack on Titan-themed question as part of a recent English question paper.
Photos of the supposed exam paper have been circulating online, which appears to be focused on parallels between the series’ storyline and the Third Reich in WW2.
The exam question has understandably gone viral on social media, with some users claiming that they would breeze such a paper without any studying or prior knowledge of the second World War.
However, this should be taken with a significant pinch of salt with no official confirmation of the legitimacy of the images being made and one fan noting that the ‘confirmation post’ has since been painstakingly removed.
Whilst some fans are discrediting the report as fake, “One would have to put in a lot of effort to create a fake question paper with the same type of paper and ink that was shown in the picture”, as argued by Sportskeeda.
