JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will return for a fifth season, but what date will ‘Stone Ocean’ release and how can fans around the world watch online?

On April 4th, 2021, it was finally revealed during a live-streamed event that the anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean was to be produced… and absolutely no one was shocked.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has become a cult classic, an icon of modern anime and part of internet pop-culture. Plus, with plenty more manga left to adapt, it was a sure thing that Stone Ocean would arrive on our screens at some point.

The new season will focus on Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of Jotaro Kugo and great-granddaughter of Joseph Jostar, who is in jail after being framed for manslaughter.

So, what date will Stone Ocean release around the world and how can fans stream the upcoming season online?

How to stream Stone Ocean online…

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will be streaming exclusively worldwide via the Netflix platform.

Whilst Netflix will not be simulcasting the series, fans should note that only 12 episodes are set to release on the streaming giant – with more episodes expected to form the remainder of season six.

At the time of writing, no other international streaming platform has revealed plans to stream the upcoming Stone Ocean series, including Crunchyroll, Funimation, Amazon or Hulu.

Original titles are rarely released on other platforms if are solely available on Netflix at launch. However, if the series is airing weekly episodes in Japan via Tokyo MX, BS11, MBS and Animax networks from January 2022, Stone Ocean may be simulcast on Crunchyroll and Hulu after the domestic premiere.

Stone Ocean: Netflix streaming release date…

The first 12 episodes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will release worldwide via Netflix on December 1st, 2021 at 12 AM PDT.

Stone Ocean is rather unique in its release because international viewers rarely get a chance to stream a series before its domestic broadcast in Japan.

The series is set to premiere on Tokyo MX, BS11 and MBS on January 8th – with Animax following on January 22nd.

A special livestream event took place on November 28th on the Warner Bros Japan Anime YouTube channel from 6 PM JST, which featured various previews for the upcoming chapter.

Voice cast and staff…

At the time of writing, only a few of the cast members have been officially confirmed, with Fairouz Ai as Jolyne Cujoh and Daisuke Ono as Jotaro Kujo.

Fans will recognize Fairouz Ai as Takechiyo from Yashahime or Kay from Monster Girl Doctor. She will also star in Crunchyroll’s upcoming series ‘Skeleton Knight in Another World’.

Daisuke Ono is a legend of anime voiceovers, with his works including Erwin from Attack on Titan, Fafnir from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Shintarō Midorima from Kuroko’s Basketball.

The opening sequence goes viral…

As part of the promotional campaign for Stone Ocean, the opening theme sequence for the upcoming series was shared online.

The song, simply titled Stone Ocean, is performed by Ichigo from the Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets band.

As noted by Kotaku, CG has a bad reputation in the world of anime, but sequences like Stone Ocean “take advantage of the intrinsic technical abilities that it offers.
